Overview of Businesses
Businesses are the foundation of how Image Edits is built. They are how we manage authorization and determine who can do what within each business, as well as how users interact with others from different businesses. This has been and remains the most complex section for us to develop and getting working perfectly, but we’re satisfied with its current state. We have plans for future improvements that we haven’t implemented yet.
Our focus on businesses stems from the growth of my own photography business. We’ve been fortunate to expand our team significantly, with team members having almost full autonomy in their roles. The old website had us sharing the same login among all team members, which wasn’t ideal. Now, multiple members of a business are built into the system. Feel free to start inviting your team members to sign up under your business and access shared data within the Image Edits platform.
Business Types
Client Businesses:
- Client Businesses are the most common type, consisting of photographers creating orders for content to be edited by Image Edits.
- Specific Client Business Features:
- Style preferences: Applied at the business level, this is a rich text area with images where you can input common style preferences for specific services. These can be selected during order creation to apply to the order notes.
- All team members can access and share these style preferences.
- Logo Management: This feature is in its early stages. You’ll be able to upload logos of your relevant agency clients, which can be used for image watermarks and selected during floorplan order creation.
- Payment Systems:
- We’ve always offered per-order payments and monthly invoices, but we now have a new payment system via wallet/credit balance.
- Wallet Payment System: This is our recommended system for client businesses. Instead of paying per order, you can add credit to your wallet balance. This reduces multiple transactions and allows team members to use the business wallet balance when creating orders, eliminating the need for individual payments or company card use.
- Style preferences: Applied at the business level, this is a rich text area with images where you can input common style preferences for specific services. These can be selected during order creation to apply to the order notes.
Image Business:
- Image Edits is the development team with access to specific admin features for platform management. (No Image Edits editors have access to this.)
- We won’t go into specifics as these are internal tools.
Editor Businesses:
- Editor businesses comprise editing teams that work on all jobs. These include both internal Image Edits teams (separated by style for organization and consistency) and third-party editors we rely on for typically cheaper services. Services using third-party editors will be indicated by tags on the service you’re selecting.
- Editor Services:
- This system manages which editor businesses and users have the skill set for specific services.
- Editor businesses must be approved by Image Edits to perform specific services. We regularly verify teams to ensure consistent quality.
- This setup allows us to have extra control over third-party editing businesses we rely on.
- We plan to bring on more third-party teams for services we don’t plan to build internally yet, such as agent portrait editing and full 3D modeling.
Future Business Types:
- The following is planned and currently under development:
- Customer Businesses: This would cater to customers of photography businesses (Image Edits clients), such as bringing a real estate agency onto the Image Edits platform along with all its agents.
- Future features will include content delivery, bookings, invoices, and a single location for agents to access all their content.
- Customer Businesses: This would cater to customers of photography businesses (Image Edits clients), such as bringing a real estate agency onto the Image Edits platform along with all its agents.
