Chat Overview

This is just a quick section to go over current functionality of the chat.

FIRSTLY the chat is not perfect, and will be lacking compare to example whatsapp, facebook and other chat apps your use too. However, we believe its it functional enough to serve its purpose with adjustment communication and being a vast improvement over the live chat for adjustment requests, having proper chats for specific adjustments and easier tracking/communication. Big issue I personally had previous is just keeping track of multiple adjustments in single chats.

Currently Functionality:

Group Chat - Chats are currently being used for orders adjustment communication. Many users can access this chat and add to the chat:
- Any Image Edits team member.
- Any client user with access to the order.
- Editor business owner/manager and quality control team member for that order.
Attachments - You can attach any content, and once it finishes zipping, it will be shown in the chat.
- We currently do not have preview for the content, but we are planning on adding a gallery for images in future.
Basic notification system - Whenever a message is added to a chat, you’ll get a notification on the top right of the dashboard.
- This is very basic at the moment, and just stating you have a message, doesn’t provide any preview of the message.

Todo List

This is just a quick todo list of what we are wanting to add in the future.

@mentions system - allow mentioning a specific user within in the chat, and give a more priority notification to that user.
Replies - Allowing to reply to specific messages within the chat, to give more context to the message.
Gallery - We are planning on adding a gallery for images in future.
Chat List Overview - Meaning a list of all chats and switch between chats much quicker with better previews too.
Typing indicator - Whenever a message is being typed, we will provide a typing indicator near the bottom of the chat.
